Protect Your Eyesight So You Can Keep Your Eye on the Ball

Baseball player swinging batWhether getting into your stance in the batter’s box, marking up for a full-court press, going long to make the big catch or bouncing up and down on the goal line ready to save the penalty kick, the encouragement from the sidelines is the same … Keep Your Eye on the Ball!!!

Vision is critical to the performance of any athlete. It influences eye-hand coordination, depth-perception and the ability to anticipate. In recognition of Sports Eye Safety Month, Advantica reminds athletes of all ages and abilities to be proactive about protecting their eyesight.

Athletes have been known to suffer from blunt trauma, corneal abrasions, fractured eye sockets, retinal detachments, bruising of the eyelids and more.  In fact, sports are to blame for as many as 100,000 eye injuries each year, according to the American of Academy Ophthalmologists (AAO). As a result, it is recommended by the AAO that appropriate, sport-specific protective eyewear be worn and that it be properly fitted by an eye care professional.

Play it safe. Make an appointment with an eye doctor today. To find one in your area, click here, and gain access to Advantica’s complete listing of vision care providers.
